Draw a hand with all five fingers spread
The easy hand drawing is the traced-hand shape everyone made in school. But all five fingers in one wandering stroke or one finger at a time, right hand or left, wrist included or not — two hands can look like they'd shake differently. Getting five finger lengths right is harder than it sounds.
What the engine watches
A hand is an outline with lots of bumps, so the shape dimension compares silhouette overlap, proportions and stroke count. One continuous outline versus finger-by-finger splits the stroke and rhythm dimensions sharply, and which side the thumb sticks out affects symmetry and orientation. A drawing built from several strokes. Compares stroke count, aspect ratio and symmetry; a single short line doesn't count. Whether you build a house from a triangle plus a square or draw it in one go decides everything.
How people usually draw it
The most common is the traced-hand shape: start at the bottom of the palm, wander over all five fingers from thumb to pinky in one stroke and come back. Next is the palm-first camp that adds fingers one by one. Most put the thumb on the left (a right palm facing you); some add a short wrist or knuckle lines.
How to sync better
Pretend you're tracing your right hand on the canvas: start at the left of the wrist, go over all five fingers in one stroke and come back to the right. No knuckle lines or nails, fingers about the same length, and draw it big.
A little trivia
Cueva de las Manos in Argentina preserves hundreds of hand stencils about 9,000 years old, nearly all of them left hands — presumably because the pigment was blown with the right. It became a World Heritage Site in 1999.
FAQ
Right hand or left?
Thumb on the left (a right palm, or the back of a left hand) is the majority. A flipped thumb throws off symmetry and orientation, so "thumb on the left" is a safe agreement.
Is it bad to draw the fingers one at a time?
Not wrong, but most people trace the outline in one stroke, so the stroke count diverges a lot. If your partner also goes finger by finger, no problem.
